Kurnell Revisited

Kurnell - 21 August 2010. The Shire Flickr Group - Michael, Jason, Gordon and I at Kurnell Spot #3.

First time at Kurnell in 4 months and trying to find familiar rocks and vantage points. It's good to be in familiar settings - I can take the time to get the right shot knowing there's always next week or time.

This was my only setup of the morning and I took 28 shots of this composition and chose this photo that I like best.
Turimetta 2010

Turimetta, NSW - 14 August 2010. The Shire Flickr Group - Jason and I at Turimetta.

Turimetta was brilliant last year with bright green weed across the rock shelf and rocks within the channel. This year, sand covers most of the rock shelf and completely covers the rocks in the channel, has not been a great year. There has been very little weed and what's there is already dying for the year.

This was our 3rd and probably last trip for 2010. I wanted to post at least one photo even if the highlights have blown out. I'll be better able to manage my highlights soon as I'm waiting for my Lee ND Grad Filters to be sent out from the U.K. This will let me stack Grads together without the Magenta colour cast of the Cokins.

Garie Beach, NSW - 24 July 2010. Solitude at Garie Beach

The plan was to meet Justin, Jason & Michael at 5:30am at Garie Beach. However they had already moved on when I got there so I enjoyed watching the morning light by myself.

Vivid Sydney 2010 - Naveen, Henry and I at the Sydney Opera House - 9 June 2010.

Vivid Sydney 2010 isn't quite the same as 2009. Maybe it's because most of it is on busy Macquarie Street and not The Rocks. Maybe it's because I didn't realise that St Mary’s Cathedral and The Sydney Conservatorium of Music are also lit. Maybe it's because you can't stop at The Hero of Waterloo for refreshments.
